PSA: I've seen three 6.7 Power Strokes in the last month with the same weird turbo whistle that wasn't there before.

Is it a high pitched whistle, almost like a tea kettle? My neighbor's truck started doing that last fall. He swore it was a boost leak, but his mechanic found a tiny crack in the exhaust manifold up near the turbo. It only whistled under load. Fixed it and the sound was gone.

Yeah, it's funny how often the obvious guess is wrong. Makes you wonder how many other little problems we misdiagnose just because the noise sounds familiar.
