Just realized my grocery bill was way too high because I never tracked my snacks

I finally sat down and went through my bank statements for the past six months, and I was spending almost $80 a month just on random gas station chips and drinks. It took me a full Sunday afternoon to sort through all the charges and categorize them properly. Has anyone else found a simple way to track those small impulse buys without it being a huge chore?

Just realized my 3-day trip to Chicago only cost me $317 total!

I was adding up my receipts from last month and my jaw dropped. I used points for the flight, stayed with a friend, and ate almost exclusively from grocery store hot bars and a single amazing $8 falafel place I found. The biggest expense was actually the public transit pass! Has anyone else had a trip where the total cost was way lower than you expected? What was your secret sauce?

I was trying to fact-check a moon landing claim at a family dinner and it blew up

Last Thanksgiving in Chicago, my cousin said the flag waving proved it was fake. I pulled up a NASA page on my phone to show the explanation about the flagpole. He just got louder and said the site was part of the cover-up. I mean, I thought having the real info ready would help, but it just made him dig in. Has anyone found a better way to handle these talks when someone won't even look at the sources?

Tried cleaning a Pentax K1000 shutter with a new solvent, got a sticky mess instead

Had a K1000 come in with slow shutter speeds. Figured I'd try that new 'Opti-Clean' solvent I saw online. Used a tiny drop on a cotton swab. Big mistake. The shutter blades gummed up completely. Took me three hours to fully strip and clean the mechanism with my regular naphtha. Learned that new doesn't always mean better for old grease. Anyone have a go-to solvent for 70s metal blade shutters they actually trust?

Funny how I thought all basalt was boring until my road trip!

I always saw basalt as just dark, plain rock by the roadside. Then I learned it forms from lava flows and can have cool columnar joints! Seeing Giant's Causeway pictures blew my mind. Now I notice basalt everywhere and appreciate its volcanic story. Geology is full of surprises like that!
