Just realized my grocery bill was way too high because I never tracked my snacks
I finally sat down and went through my bank statements for the past six months, and I was spending almost $80 a month just on random gas station chips and drinks. It took me a full Sunday afternoon to sort through all the charges and categorize them properly. Has anyone else found a simple way to track those small impulse buys without it being a huge chore?

I just started using a cash envelope for snacks, it really cut down on those little buys.

Honestly that sounds like a lot of extra work for not much payoff. I mean, you still have to go get cash and keep track of the envelopes. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather see the total on my card statement at the end of the month, it kinda does the same thing. Plus then you don't have loose change everywhere.

Three weeks into cash envelopes and I already gave up. The ATM runs alone killed me. And you're totally right about the loose change, my car cupholder looks like a fountain now.
