Saw a fleet of old Detroit 8V92s still running strong at a truck show in Billings

Was at the Big Sky Diesel Rally in Billings last weekend and a guy had three 90s-era dump trucks with the original 8V92TAs, all over 800k miles. He said the key was running them hard and hot to keep the injectors clean, plus he changes the oil every 5k with Delo 100. Got me thinking, are those old two-strokes really that tough if you just stay on top of basics, or is he just lucky?

Man, that's wild. My buddy's uncle had a gravel hauler with an 8V92 that went over a million miles. He swore by the same thing, just hammer on it and change the oil like clockwork. Guess they really are built different.

Hammer on it" sounds like a great way to break everything.
