Switched to a 6.0 bulletproof oil cooler fix and it actually worked

My 2005 F-350 was running hot every time I towed my trailer to the yard in Phoenix. I tried flushing the cooling system twice and it didn't help at all. Finally swapped out the stock oil cooler for a new genuine Ford one and followed the Ford procedure to the letter. Temps dropped about 15 degrees under load and it's been solid for 3 months now. Anyone else had good luck with just the stock cooler replacement or did you go with aftermarket?

Honestly, that's great to hear your stock cooler swap worked. My buddy had the exact same 2005 F-350 with the overheating issue when towing his horse trailer in the summer. He was dead set on going aftermarket like some Mishimoto setup but I convinced him to try the Ford procedure first. He did everything by the book with the genuine Ford cooler, flushed the whole system, and his temps dropped just like yours. He's been towing that trailer all over since and hasn't had a single issue in over a year now. Ngl, sometimes the factory fix really is the way to go.

Yeah I saw a YouTube mechanic say the same thing, the stock Ford parts actually work fine.
