TIL I was wrong about using a torque wrench on every single injector clamp bolt
For years at the fleet shop, I torqued all eight bolts on each Detroit Series 60 injector clamp to spec, which added about 20 minutes per engine. A mentor showed me you only need to properly torque the two primary bolts, then just snug the rest evenly, and I've had zero issues in the 50 engines since. When did you guys stop over-torquing the small stuff?

We had the same thing with Cat 3406 valve bridges. The book says torque every bridge bolt, but an old hand showed me you just need to get the two main ones right and the rest are basically just locators. Saved a ton of time and never had one come loose.

Oh man, my buddy did that same thing with the rocker arm bolts on a Cummins rebuild. He was torquing every single one until a guy at the parts counter asked him what the heck he was doing.
