Can we talk about the 'slow travel' thing people keep pushing?

I've been moving around for about 8 months now, and I keep seeing posts saying you need to stay in one spot for a month or more to really 'live like a local' and be a real nomad. I tried that in Medellin and honestly, after two weeks I was bored and my work started to feel stale. On the other side, I have friends who hop cities every 5 days and they're burned out. For me, the sweet spot is 10-14 days. It's enough time to get a feel for a place, find a good coffee shop to work from, and not get stuck in a rut. Why is there this one-size-fits-all rule? Maybe it depends on your work and personality. What's your ideal stay length and why?

Spot on about the one-size-fits-all thing, it drives me nuts. I did three months in Lisbon once because everyone said to, and honestly I was itching to leave after six weeks. My ideal is about three weeks, it lets me settle a little without the pressure to have some big local experience. Do you find your work rhythm changes a lot when you stick to that two-week schedule?

It's like the whole "optimal morning routine" debate. People just love making rules for stuff that's totally personal. Your two week rhythm makes sense if you need fresh input to stay focused.

Ever try a month and just feel stuck after two weeks?
