Chat with a barista in Chiang Mai made me realize I've been lying about my 'office view'
She asked if I actually work at that cafe or just take pictures of my laptop for Instagram, and now I'm looking at 6 months of my own posts wondering how many times I even opened a single tab.

Respect the take but I see it a little differently. To me the hustle culture thing gets thrown around too much as an excuse. I think sometimes we just want to share a moment or feel connected to others who are working hard too. Documenting the grind isn't always about performance, sometimes its just a way to stay motivated or mark time. The real problem might be that we stopped being honest with ourselves about what we're actually doing.

Flip it around and ask yourself why we are all so obsessed with proving we work at all. The real lie isn't the laptop photo, it's the whole hustle culture that makes us feel guilty for just sitting still for an hour. Like if you don't document the grind, society thinks you're lazy. Maybe the barista has a point but not the one she thinks. We're all just performing productivity for each other and its exhausting.
