Just saw a stat that 42% of nomads in Chiang Mai are on tourist visas, not proper digital nomad ones

Read it in a local expat newsletter yesterday. Makes me wonder how many people are actually doing this legally, you know?

Noticed the same thing with remote workers in Lisbon last year. Feels like a lot of people just hop on a plane and figure out the visa stuff later. Creates a weird vibe for everyone who did the paperwork. Makes you question if the whole digital nomad idea is built on shaky ground. Honestly not surprised by that stat at all.

That 42% number hits close to home, and I get what @hart.zara is saying about the vibe. My own visa scramble in Mexico last year was a real wake-up call. It's a messy system that pushes people to cut corners.
