My internet went dead during a client call in Medellin

I was sitting in a coworking space in El Poblado, about to present a marketing report to a client back home, when the wifi cut out completely. Turns out the whole building lost power because a construction crew hit a main line. Has anyone else had to handle a major work emergency when your backup plans just fall apart?

lol @phoenixp30 is living in 3024 with that garden hose analogy but honestly he's not wrong. I've had to do a full presentation from my phone hotspot while sitting in a random park because some dude with a backhoe decided my building's internet was his enemy. The client probably thinks you're doing some dramatic telenovela performance for attention, which honestly makes you look more dedicated if anything. Next time just tell them the construction crew was unionizing against your wifi, adds drama.

And that's EXACTLY why I keep a backup mobile hotspot and a power bank in my bag at ALL times. People laugh at me for being "that guy" but guess who was the hero when the whole coworking space went dark last month? Oh that's right this guy. You gotta treat the internet like a garden hose in Medellin - you expect it to get cut off randomly and plan for the SURPRISE. Power lines and construction crews are basically a package deal down there, they might as well be married. Your client probably thinks you staged the whole thing for sympathy points, which is the only silver lining here.
