Can we talk about the time I tried to install a ceiling fan in my old Portland house?

The wiring was so ancient I accidentally turned on the neighbor's porch light across the street. Anyone know a good electrician in the Northwest who won't laugh at me?

My Portland house had wiring where the doorbell would dim the living room lights. I'm pretty sure my old place was secretly a Rube Goldberg machine.
