Rant: Spent a whole afternoon chasing a 6mm gap in my floor layout
I was laying out a floor plan for a small commercial build in Austin, and one room was supposed to come out to exactly 12 feet. After an hour of rechecking my dims and moving lines around, I found out my CAD file had a hidden block from an old import throwing everything off by 6mm. It took me 4 hours to spot that dumb thing, and I could have knocked it out in 20 minutes if I had just purged the drawing first. Anyone else get caught by weird leftover blocks or layers that mess with your whole setup?

Exactly the kind of trap that'll eat your whole day before you know it. @sandra146 got it right, purging and cleaning up a drawing before you start should be the first thing you do every time. Those hidden blocks from old imports are nasty because you can't always see them on screen. Running a full audit and purge at the beginning would've caught that 6mm ghost block before you even started laying things out. Keep a checklist of cleanup commands handy and run them as a habit on every file you open.

Oh man I feel your pain so much! I spent about three hours once hunting down a weird 1/4 inch gap that turned out to be some old hatch pattern that got stuck in my template from a coworker's file. Purge and cleanup every time now, learned that lesson the hard way just like you did.
