Was dead set against digital calipers until I borrowed my buddy's Mitutoyo
I've been using dial calipers for like 15 years and always figured digital ones were just for people who couldn't read a dial. Last week my buddy Dave handed me his Mitutoyo to check a weird dimension on a steel plate and I figured I'd humor him. After like 30 seconds I could zero it in a different spot and switch between inches and mm without doing math in my head. I still don't love the idea of batteries failing mid-job but man that thing was fast and accurate. Has anyone else had a similar change of heart or am I just getting lazy in my old age lol

Yeah Dave it was pretty much the exact same thing for me, I had dial calipers for years and thought digital was a gimmick but once I tried a friend's Mitutoyo I was hooked. Now I keep a spare battery in my toolbox just in case but honestly it's been a game changer for speed.

My buddy Mike swore by his old Starrett dial calipers for years, said digital was just a battery waiting to die. Then he dropped his dial caliper on the concrete floor and broke the rack gear, had to borrow my digital one for a rush job. He bought a Mitutoyo digital the next day and now he's the one telling everyone else to switch, you ever seen someone change their mind that fast over something so simple?
