The pump on our old Ellicott 370 clogged with a plastic tarp in the Houston Ship Channel.
We had to shut everything down and pull the whole suction line to clear it, which took about four hours in the middle of the night. Has anyone found a good way to spot that kind of junk on the sonar before it gets sucked up?

Spotting that junk on sonar" used to seem impossible, but a buddy showed me how to tweak the gain for shallow debris and it actually works.

Tweaking the gain for shallow debris is a decent start, but it just makes everything brighter and noisier for me. I've had way better luck just slowing my troll way down in those spots. The extra time lets the picture clear up without all the false echoes.
