Caught a bit of a talk radio show about construction safety and it stuck with me

I was driving to a job in Tacoma last week and the hosts were talking about a local drywall crew that got a big safety award for going five full years without a single recordable injury. They said the foreman's big thing was making everyone do a five-minute stretch and tool check every single morning, no matter how busy they were. I always thought that stuff was just extra time, but hearing the number five years made me stop and think. I'm going to try that morning routine with my own small crew starting next Monday. What's one small safety habit you've picked up that actually made a difference?

That five year mark is a real eye opener. We started a simple buddy check before any ladder work, just a quick look at the feet and locks. It feels like nothing, but it catches a worn part you might have missed on your own.

Yeah, that buddy check system is low key genius. It's crazy how a fresh pair of eyes spots the obvious stuff you just walk past every day. We had a close call with a frayed harness strap that way, someone else pointed it out immediately. Makes you wonder what else you're just blind to after seeing it a thousand times.
