Shoutout to the guy who showed me how to stagger seams on a long hallway
Used to just butt my boards up against each other and hope for the best on long runs. Had a 60 foot hallway in an office building in Dayton last week where I finally tried staggering every joint by at least 2 feet. The finishing was way smoother and no visible tape lines. Has anyone else found a good rule of thumb for how far apart to keep those joints?

I heard from a old timer once that you should stagger by at least the width of the board itself, so if your planks are 6 inches wide you move each joint over by at least 6 inches. He said it helps with structural stability and not just looks. For a 60 foot hallway like you had I would probably go even more, maybe 3 or 4 feet apart, just to be safe. That tape line thing you mentioned is real, I see it all the time in cheap jobs where they just butt everything together. Did you end up using a flooring nailer or glue for that long run?
