Had a job in an old theater downtown that turned into a full rewire

The owner wanted to add some stage lights, but when I opened the panel it was all cloth wrapped wire from the 40s. We spent the whole week pulling new runs through plaster and lath. The best part was finding the original stagehand call buttons, which we kept working. Anyone else run into a historic building that needed way more work than you planned?

We rewired a 1920s hotel and found knob and tube hidden inside the walls. The quote was for two days but it took us a full week just to make it safe. I love saving the old push button light switches though, they have so much character. What was the weirdest thing you found in those walls?

Seriously? Sounds like a huge waste of time and money. All that old stuff is a fire hazard, you should have just ripped it all out and put in a modern system.
