Clash with my spouse over kids and elevator safety lessons
She thinks it's key for them to know how things work at home. I say it's too hard and they might get hurt. We keep going in circles on this. Do you folks involve your family in your work? I'm curious to hear both sides.

How do kids learn if they never get to try stuff? Showing them properly is way safer than them figuring it out alone.

But don't some lessons need hands-on mistakes?

My buddy's kid got super curious about their building's elevator after seeing the maintenance guy work on it. His wife was like @amy_reed79, saying they should show him the safety stuff and how the door sensor works so he wouldn't just jam his hand in there. They let him watch while they explained it all, and now he's the one telling his little friends not to mess with the doors. It turned a scary what-if into a boring fact for him. Sometimes seeing the guts of something takes the mystery and danger right out.
