Saw a crazy setup in a Denver hotel lobby last week
I was fixing a leaky roof on a high-rise in Denver and walked through this fancy hotel lobby. They had this glass elevator with a exposed hydraulic setup that looked like it was from the 80s but retrofitted with a digital controller. The cylinder was wrapped in plastic sheeting because it was weeping oil everywhere. Anyone else run into old hydros with modern bolt-on controllers that just don't play nice?

Is it really that big of a deal? Plenty of old stuff gets hacked together with new parts and works fine for years. Sounds like they just didn't seal the cylinder right when they did the swap.

Got the same problem with my old truck - slapped a new fuel injector system on a 70s carburetor engine and now it stalls every time I hit a pothole. Guess I'm just as bad at matching old and new parts as that hotel crew.
