My street's shift from wooden fences to metal ones over the last decade
I was walking down my street the other day and it hit me how much the fences have changed. When I first moved here, almost every yard had those classic wooden picket fences. They needed a lot of care, like painting every few years, but they gave the place a cozy, lived-in feel. Now, I see more and more sleek metal fences going up. They're low upkeep and last longer, but they feel a bit cold to me. I remember helping my dad stain our old fence when I was a kid, and it was a whole weekend project. These new ones just get installed in a day and that's it. I guess things move faster now, but I kinda miss the character the wood added to the neighborhood.

Yeah that cozy lived-in feel is what I miss too. I put in a wooden fence with a natural stain that lasts, best of both worlds.

Lasting natural stain sounds great, mine always ends up patchy.

Used to think stains were a pain, but that lasting natural look really grew on me.
