Why does nobody talk about how bad white trim looks on a red brick house?

My street in Springfield has a lot of old red brick homes. Last month, the house next door got painted. The owners went with bright white trim on all the windows and doors. Everyone says it's classic. I think it looks terrible. It's way too harsh against the warm brick. Makes the house look cheap, like a cartoon. I told my partner it was a mistake. They said I was being too picky. But it really stands out now, in a bad way. Has anyone else seen a color combo that just doesn't work on brick?

My grandma’s house in Columbus had red brick with a soft cream trim. It looked warm and settled, not stark at all. Maybe the problem isn’t white itself, but that specific bright, cool white paint. A warmer off-white or even a light gray can look classic without that harsh contrast.

Our old house in Dayton had that same blinding white trim, honestly it looked so cheap.

My neighbor in Akron used a warm off-white called "Navajo White" on their brick house trim. It looked way better than the bright white because it didn't fight with the brick color. The trick is finding a trim color that's still light but has some yellow or brown in it to soften the look.
