My magnet stick accident sent a hoof knife flying
I built a magnet on a stick to grab fallen nails without bending over. When I waved it near my toolbox, it sucked up a sharp hoof knife and flung it across the barn. Now I keep tools separate, but what's your funniest tool story?

Have you considered a weaker magnet for that stick? A less powerful one would still pick up nails but not launch heavier tools. It could save you from more flying surprises!

My uncle in Phoenix had to get three stitches after his magnet grabbed a wrench off a ladder. I mean the whole point is to not bend over fifty times a day, right? A weaker magnet just means it falls off the stick when you don't want it to. Then you're back to bending over anyway. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather risk the surprise launch than have it fail every time.

Last summer, a friend's magnetic pickup tool sent a pair of pliers flying into his foot. It's part of a pattern where trying to be efficient backfires in silly ways. Sometimes the simple way is just to bend over and grab the nail.
