My friend dared me to design a dress using only thrift store fabric from the Goodwill in Springfield
I had to choose between a pile of old floral curtains and a stack of worn out band t-shirts. I went with the t-shirts, thinking I could make a cool patchwork punk look. It turned into a weird, lumpy mess that looked like a quilt threw up on me. Anyone else try making something from totally random materials and have it go sideways?

What makes you think a lumpy patchwork mess is a failure? That sounds like the exact vibe you were going for with band shirts. Sometimes the weirdest looking projects have the most character. My favorite jacket is made from scraps and it looks like it survived a trash compactor, but I get more comments on it than anything else I own.

That sounds rough, @mila_jones39. Reminds me of the time my wife tried to turn an old curtain into a reusable grocery bag and it just ended up a weird floppy sack. You have my sympathy, sometimes these projects just don't want to cooperate.

My cousin gave me a bag of old jeans to make a tote bag, it ended up looking like a sad denim blob.
