Rant: I was designing for the runway in my head instead of for people walking down the street
For a long time, I kept making these wild, super structured pieces that looked great on a hanger but were a pain to wear. The moment it hit me was about three months ago, watching a friend try to get into a car while wearing a jacket I made. She had to basically take it off first. I realized I'd been focused on the 'wow' photo instead of the 'wow, this is comfortable' feeling. Now I'm trying to add more stretch panels and hidden ease into my designs. Has anyone else had to shift their focus from pure visual impact to wearability?

Ever think about how @matthewbarnes' gussets affect the fabric's drape?

Feel that so hard. I made a pair of pants once that looked amazing standing still but you couldn't actually sit down in them. It's a tough lesson to learn, but adding those hidden gussets or a bit of stretch in the right places is a total game changer.

Honestly, the struggle is part of the art. If you want comfort, buy sweatpants. Fashion should make you stop and look, not just sit down easy.
