Rent: My compostable dress started breaking down at a wedding

I got really into sustainable fabrics and decided to make a dress from this new plant based material that's supposed to compost in a few months. Spent ages sewing it, and it looked great for my cousin's outdoor ceremony. Halfway through the reception, I felt a weird tearing sound near the waist. Looked down and saw a small hole forming where I'd been sitting on a damp chair. By the end of the night, the hem was literally fraying into bits from the grass moisture. Had to borrow a sweater to tie around my hips for the exit. Everyone thought it was some kind of performance art statement on decay. Now I'm rethinking how fast 'biodegradable' should actually work when you're trying to dance.

Nature's timeline is a bit aggressive.

Wow, did you even dance before it fell apart?

Seen worse falls, @fionalopez. The dancer got a few moves in before the stage piece collapsed. Looked like a quick salsa step right as it gave way. Honestly, the timing was almost funny if it wasn't so dangerous.
