Had a customer in Phoenix watch me lay out a whole pattern then ask if I could move every plank 2 inches to the right

He wanted it centered on a light fixture that was 6 inches off center from the room, and when I showed him it would throw off the whole layout he just said do it anyway, has anyone else dealt with a homeowner who won't budge on a bad idea?

My buddy runs a crew in Scottsdale and he told me about this one guy who wanted his whole kitchen backsplash lined up with a outlet cover that was clearly crooked. They showed him with a level how bad it would look and he still said do it anyway. I think some homeowners get so focused on that one thing in their head they cant see the bigger picture. Its like they think if the center of the room is off by a little bit the whole house is gonna collapse or something. At the end of the day you just do what they pay you for and hope they dont call you back in a month to fix it.

Don't you think the homeowner's paying for it though? If they're cool with the crooked outlet being the focal point that's on them. Sometimes people have a weird vision in their head that just doesn't match what looks right to everyone else. At the end of the day they're the ones who gotta stare at that backsplash every morning. Your buddy did the right thing warning them. But once they say go ahead you just lay the tile and cash the check. Not your house not your problem really.
