A wedding in Austin taught me to always pack extra wire

I was setting up a big arch for a ceremony at the Zilker Botanical Garden, and a squirrel ran off with a whole spool of my green paddle wire. I had to use zip ties from my truck to finish securing the roses. Now I keep three extra spools in my kit, no matter the job size. Has anyone else had an animal mess with their supplies at an outdoor event?

A whole gang of raccoons? That's wild. They just went for the plates to cause chaos? I've seen birds steal shiny bits but that's next level vandalism. It's like they formed a little furry wrecking crew just to ruin Mike's day.

That "furry wrecking crew" idea from @tara345 makes me wonder if they were just bored.

My buddy Mike was setting up for a family reunion picnic at Shelby Park last spring. He left a brand new pack of paper plates on a picnic table for maybe two minutes. A whole gang of raccoons came out of the woods, tore the plastic open, and just scattered plates everywhere like giant confetti. They didn't even want the plates, they were just making a mess. He had to send someone on a emergency store run before the guests arrived. Animals at outdoor events are basically tiny, furry vandals.
