Just realized I wasted $40 on a font that didn't match anything

Bought a really cool script font for a wedding invite project. Cost me forty bucks. Looked great on its own. But I could not find a single sans-serif that looked right with it. Tried like six different free ones. Ended up scrapping the whole design and starting over. Anyone have a go-to simple font that pairs with fancy scripts?

Ugh that is the WORST feeling. Spent thirty bucks on a display font once that just refused to play nice with ANY body text. Felt like burning money.

Tell me about it. I bought this really cool script font that looked amazing in the headline, but it turned into an unreadable mess in paragraphs. Total waste.
