Big grin moment from a simple sand mold.
The aluminum copy of my dog's tag came out crisp with no bubbles.

Did you use any special technique to pack the sand? Getting no bubbles is tricky, I've had issues with air pockets before. Using fine sand and tapping the mold gently usually helps. What aluminum alloy did you pour?

Three-peat on the fine sand and tapping the mold. I used a cheap vibrating table from Harbor Freight for a full minute on my last backyard pour, which was overkill but worked. The alloy was just my usual mess of scrap extrusion and old lawn chair parts, so probably close to A356.
