Overheard a new guy at the Trenton plant say he never checks his respirator seal before a pour

Honestly, that made me stop and show him the soot line inside my old one from a bad fit last year. How do you guys make sure your PPE is actually sealed right?

My foreman at the Gary mill makes us do a fit test monthly.

Check the seal every single time, no excuses. That soot line story is a perfect example of what can go wrong. It only takes one bad fit to mess you up.
