Used to paint trim on the ground then install. Now I do it in place.

Been building decks for 7 years and always painted the trim pieces flat on saw horses first. Last week on a job in Raleigh it rained mid-install and ruined 3 hours of work. Has anyone else switched to painting after install?

I was making a simple card hover effect. Had like 40 lines of code with transforms, pseudo-elements, and keyframes. A user named pixel_puncher said 'just use outline-offset and scale, man.' I was mad at first. But I tried it. Cut my code down to 8 lines. The effect actually looked cleaner too. No extra divs, no crazy z-index stacking. Now I always ask myself 'can I do this with one property instead of three?' Really changed how I approach CSS battles. Has anyone else gotten a blunt critique that actually made you better?

Question about choosing between hardcover and paperback for book club reading

I used to always pick hardcovers for book club because they looked nicer on my shelf (and I felt fancy), but after lugging a 500 page hardcover to three meetings, I switched to paperbacks. The paperback was way easier to carry around and I could fold it open without cracking the spine, which drove me nuts before. Tried stretching a 12 foot seam in a hallway by myself. Big mistake.

Was doing a bedroom in a split level house off Highway 40 last Thursday. Had this long hallway run and figured I could save time by not calling my helper. Seam popped open about 4 feet from the wall and I spent an hour trying to fix it with a knee kicker. Had to cut out the whole piece and redo it. Last month I had to decide between paying for Google Drive every month or just buying a couple of external hard drives. I went with the hard drives because I figured once I paid, it was done. But then my cat knocked one off my desk and it started clicking. I lost about three years of photos and random documents before I could get it to a shop in Portland. The guy there told me they recovered maybe 60 percent of it. So now I'm thinking maybe the cloud subscription was the smarter move after all, even at $10 a month. Has anyone else had major regrets going one way or the other with this stuff?

I get that it looks good in those Instagram photos but I had to pick between open shelves and upper cabinets for my own kitchen reno last spring. I went with cabinets and my wife was mad for about a month. Now after 8 months she admits she was wrong because we don't spend every Saturday wiping grease off plates that sit out in the open.
