That stone veneer siding job I did last fall changed the whole look of my house

My buddy Mike did something similar on his ranch house up in Fort Collins. He only did the front porch pillar and the whole entryway, cost him around $1,800 in materials and three weekends. His wife said it made the house feel way more mountain lodge style and now all the neighbors keep asking who did the work.

Installed a new controller in a 1960s Otis and it threw a fit

Oh man, ghost voltage is a nightmare. Had the same thing on a 1970s Dover.

PSA: I just read that 80% of agency leads come from referrals, not ads

Classic" is right but I think you guys are missing something. Ryan, you say you're paying for ads to look busy, but here's the thing - referrals only work if you already have a steady flow of clients to generate them. Without paid ads or some kind of outbound effort, especially when you're starting out or in a slow season, you have zero new people coming in the door. That 80% stat is probably from established shops that have been around forever. For a newer agency or one trying to grow fast, relying on referrals alone would mean you're leaving money on the table. I've seen agencies where referrals dried up for a few months and they had to scramble because they had no pipeline from ads. Ads keep the engine running even when word of mouth slows down.

Got lost in the Sierra Nevada for 5 hours because of a trail reroute

Isn't Rae Lakes Loop more of a JMT section than a standalone trail?

Why I stopped being a coffee snob after visiting a diner in Ohio

Good quality diner blend" - wait, @bailey.sandra, you're telling me there's an actual diner blend that's consistently good and not just random brown water? That's wild, I thought every place just used whatever generic bag they found.
