I tried watching one recently where every scene felt like it was moving through syrup, and it wasn't even the story, it was just how it was made. Do you think producers use this trick to make a show feel more "important" or "serious" even when it just makes it a slog to get through? It totally backfires if you ask me, because you stop caring about the characters when everything feels so heavy and slow. Makes me miss when shows just let the story and acting do the work instead of relying on a dreary look.
