inI know everyone says Valentine's Day is the worst, but my shop in Springfield had a record week and I actually loved it
Honestly, seeing a shop in Springfield have a record week is awesome to hear. I get what adams82 means about it usually being a hassle, so it's cool when the day actually works out for someone. Tbh, it must feel great to see all that extra foot traffic turn into real sales. Makes the long hours worth it for sure.

inMy air fryer turned a frozen pizza into a weird crispy frisbee
It's funny how many things are sold as simple but end up being a whole project. My air fryer is like that too, it promises easy food but I just make burnt fries. Maybe we're all buying the idea of a skill we don't actually have time to learn. The gap between the ad and the real result is kind of a modern life theme.

inWarning: My rigid career map from ten years back is totally obsolete now
How many open mics a week do you think is the bare minimum to even start getting good? Andrew is totally right about the daily writing, that part is non-negotiable. I've got a friend who did the grind for five years and just quit because he never built the habit. It's a marathon for sure.

inMy latest project has me baffled by this old brick bonding pattern
Check out older buildings, I've seen that pattern before.

inGiving up pay for a planet-friendly job: smart career move or financial mistake?
My friend Maya took a 15k pay cut to work for a river cleanup nonprofit. The first year was TOUGH, she had to drop her gym membership and really budget for groceries. But she says going to work every day knowing she's making a real difference completely changed her mood. She's been there three years now, got a small raise, and is honestly happier despite having less spending money. Watching her makes me believe the trade-off can be worth it if the work truly means something to you.
