Cold calling vs. showing up at local shops in Denver, the door knock won 4 clients in 3 weeks
I tested both for a month and walked into 22 businesses face to face versus 400 dials, and the in person visits actually got real conversations going, so has anyone else found that showing up beats the phone for landing smaller local accounts?
So what happens when the shop owner isn't there and you just burned gas driving across town? I did door to door for a year selling POS systems and half the time the manager was in a meeting or the place was closed for lunch. Meanwhile those 400 dials cost you nothing but time, and you can hit 100 in a morning while sitting in your car. A guy I worked with killed it on the phone with Denver salons because he called at 2pm on Tuesdays when they were slow. The door knock feels better because you got out of the house, but feeling better and closing better are two different things.
