I used to think hiring a salesperson was a waste of money for our small agency. Then we hired one 4 months ago and our monthly revenue went from $12k to $27k.

Sounds like a great result, but I'd call that person a business developer, not just a salesperson. A real sales hire would have cost more upfront and taken longer to show that kind of return. What you probably found was someone who could properly explain your value and close deals you were already missing, which is huge. That's the key role a lot of small shops are missing for years.

Remember when people used to argue over job titles like "growth hacker"? Feels like the same thing here where the actual work matters more than what you call it. If they're bringing in good clients who pay on time, that's the whole job.

Exactly, a lot of agencies just need that first person who can actually talk to clients and close.
