Switched from daily email blasts to a weekly newsletter 3 months ago

I used to send a promotional email every single day to our agency list. Open rates dropped to around 12%. Three months ago I switched to a weekly roundup on Fridays with curated tips instead of constant sales pitches. Open rates jumped to 38% and we actually got 2 new client leads from it this month. Has anyone else tried cutting back frequency and seen better results?

Oh yeah totally been there. I did the same thing with my list about a year ago, was sending stuff every other day and people were just deleting it or unsubscribing like crazy. Once I dropped to once a week on Tuesdays and made it more about useful stuff they could actually use, my open rates shot up to around 42% and I started getting replies from people saying they actually looked forward to it. The funny thing is I was scared to cut back at first, thinking I'd lose momentum, but it was the exact opposite. People actually pay attention now because they know it's not going to be some annoying pitch every single morning.

Back in December I was pretty convinced you had to stay top-of-mind by emailing all the time, but your results completely flipped my thinking on that.
