My sister swore parboiling potatoes first was a waste of time for air fryer chips

She said just cut them and toss them in with oil. I did that for months and got okay results. Finally tried parboiling for 5 minutes before air frying at 380 for 12 minutes and the texture was way better. Has anyone else found that extra step makes a real difference?

My aunt used to say the same thing about oven chips until I caught her parboiling them in secret one Thanksgiving. She just mumbled something about "extra crunch" and changed the subject real fast.

Tried salting the water when parboiling and it crisped up way better than skipping that step.
