I finally cleared out my uncle's old sheet metal tools from his airport days.

He worked on prop planes back when repairs were more hands-on. Now everything seems to be about composites and computer checks. Do you miss the tactile feel of older maintenance methods?

Your uncle's tools sound like a piece of history! Aviation has changed a lot, but modern repairs aren't all computer screens. Composite work actually needs careful hands for layers and molds, so that tactile feeling isn't gone. It just looks different now with new materials. Those old tools are a cool reminder, but hands-on fixing is still a big part of the job!

Guess my hands would ache too if I tried to fix anything more complex than a sandwich.

My buddy who does composite repair says his hands still ache after hours of mold work.
