Got roasted in a My Hero Academia forum for calling Bakugo a bad character
I made this post saying Bakugo's whole 'angry all the time' thing felt one-note to me after 30 episodes. Someone replied with like a 3 paragraph breakdown of his development through season 2 and 3. Honestly went back and watched those arcs again and yeah I was wrong. The guy even pointed out specific moments I missed like when he cries after the sports festival. Learned I need to actually finish shows before judging characters. Anyone else get humbled like that in an anime sub?

Had something similar happen back when I was watching Attack on Titan. Posted about how Eren seemed like a generic shonen protagonist, got a wall of text explaining all the foreshadowing in season 1 that I missed about his later character shift. Felt pretty dumb after going back and rewatching episodes with fresh eyes. That's the thing about anime fans though, they'll call you out but they'll also back it up with evidence if you're wrong. Made me start taking notes during shows just so I don't look dumb online.

That thing about Eren is a good example. I actually read an article from a guy who analyzes anime writing, and he pointed out how early Eren's impulsiveness isn't just generic rage, it's a setup for his later shift into thinking he's the only one who can save people. Once I saw that, the whole Reiner reveal in season 2 hit way different. I think what's interesting is how these shows reward paying attention. You miss one look or one line and suddenly you're the guy talking trash about Bakugo.
