The subbed vs dubbed fight at Anime Expo just got way too toxic
I was at Anime Expo in LA last Friday waiting for a panel and overheard two guys nearly throwing hands because one said the English dub of Frieren was better than the original Japanese audio. Like, it's 2025, can we finally admit both versions have their place without calling someone a fake fan? The worst part is they were both in their 30s arguing like it was a life or death stakes tournament arc. Has anyone else noticed this gatekeeping getting worse at cons, or was I just unlucky enough to stand next to the wrong crowd?
