Watching old anime threads made me see a weird pattern about spoiler tags

I was going through a forum from 2015 about a big show, and people kept putting spoiler warnings for stuff that happened in episode 2. That's the setup, not a secret. It happens in the first week a show airs. I think it makes real plot twists less shocking because everything gets hidden. How do you decide what's actually a spoiler after the first episode? Is there a time limit?

Ugh, that drives me crazy too. It totally waters down the whole point of a spoiler tag. My rule is if it's in the official summary or the first episode, it's fair game. But I'm curious, where do you draw the line for a long finished series? Like, if someone hasn't seen it yet, is the big twist in a 20 year old show still a secret they need protected?

About that "big twist in a 20 year old show", I read a good rule that after ten years, you don't need tags.
