I heard a pitmaster say they only use salt and pepper on their brisket

Right there with you. I did the same thing last year and everyone said it tasted like plain meat. A little garlic and onion powder isnt going to ruin anything, it just adds to it.

I was dead wrong about those meal prep services

Fool" is exactly how I felt too. I started doing something simple where I chop up all my veggies the day I get them and stick them in clear jars so I actually see what I have. It's not as fancy as the meal kits but it cut my waste by like half because I'm not forgetting bags of carrots in the back of the fridge.

Appreciation post: the day I stopped hiding my navigation menu behind a hamburger icon

Did you test the bottom tab bar against a top bar too or just the hamburger? I tried moving my nav to the bottom on my blog and engagement barely moved, but I think it depends on what people are on your site to do.

Had a talk with an old timer at the diesel shop yesterday that flipped my thinking

My old boss back in the day told me something similar... he said "fast is slow and slow is smooth." I used to fight it but he was right. Once I stopped watching the clock and started paying attention to what the machine was telling me I caught things I would have missed. Less comebacks, less stress, and somehow the work got done just as fast in the end. Sometimes rushing just makes you loop back and fix your own mistakes.

Rant: Stop stretching carpet so tight it lifts the tack strips

Yeah, @webb.stella, I haven't seen anyone say where they learned that trick either. For me, I just started pulling the tape tighter as I went and it helped a lot with the wrinkles. Experimenting on my own was the only way I figured it out.
