inShoutout to the old timer at the yard in Phoenix who showed me his rigging trick
Remember that old timer. He saved me hours once just by telling me to soak a seized bolt in Coke overnight. It sounds crazy, but it worked. Those guys have seen every problem ten times over. The real trick is listening when they offer help. A lot of young guys are too proud to take simple advice.

inWatching old anime threads made me see a weird pattern about spoiler tags
Ugh, that drives me crazy too. It totally waters down the whole point of a spoiler tag. My rule is if it's in the official summary or the first episode, it's fair game. But I'm curious, where do you draw the line for a long finished series? Like, if someone hasn't seen it yet, is the big twist in a 20 year old show still a secret they need protected?

inI bought a $200 'smart' thermostat that actually raised my energy bill
I mean @robinl90, is a few months really that big a deal for a thermostat?

inI was helping my uncle rewire his kitchen in Toledo and he insisted on using wire nuts for everything, even the new GFCI outlets. I mean, I get they're cheap and he's used them for 40 years, but I think Wago lever nuts are way safer and faster for a DIYer. What's your take on the old school vs new school connection debate?
Detroit's seen how many fires from Wagos, exactly?

inRemember when we used to hand-sound for depth before every big dig?
Honestly, "drop a lead line every hundred feet" sounds like ancient history. Tbh I can't even imagine doing a job that way now, calling out numbers for a whole hour. That skill has to be pretty much gone, even on small jobs. It's wild how fast the tech changed everything.
