I finally tried one of those cheap phone telescope adapters and it was a total waste

I mean, I saw an ad for a $30 kit that promised pro level moon shots with any phone. Spent like an hour trying to line it up with my basic refractor last weekend. The pictures came out blurry and shaky, just a bright blob really. I could have saved the cash and just held my phone up to the eyepiece, it would have been the same. Has anyone actually gotten one of these things to work right, or are they all junk?

Remember those cheap plastic tripods that came with old webcams? I had a similar letdown trying to use one for a school project, just a wobbly mess. Some gear is cheap for a reason.

Yeah @the_leo, that's the worst feeling when cheap gear fails you at the wrong time. It's like they're built to just look okay on the shelf. You really do get what you pay for with that stuff.
