PSA: That cheap bed liner paint ruined my primer job
Tried using that Rust-Oleum truck bed liner spray on a bumper repair last week. Figured it'd be tough and save time. Looked fine at first, but when I went to put primer over the spot I missed, the liner paint started bubbling and peeling off in sheets. Learned the hard way that stuff has silicone or something in it that paint just wont stick to. Gotta strip it all down and start over now. Has anyone else had this happen with a specific brand of liner?

Oh man, same thing happened to me with that exact brand. I used it on a tailgate and thought I was being smart, then a week later the whole thing just started flaking off like sunburned skin. Had to sand it all back to bare metal, it was a nightmare. I swear they put something in that stuff specifically to repel any other paint. Never again, I'm sticking to regular primer and a proper top coat even if it takes longer.

Had a buddy who learned this the hard way on his truck bed. He used that same brand, thought he was saving time before a hunting trip. Two months later he went to toss a cooler in and the paint just peeled off in sheets like plastic wrap. He spent a whole weekend with a wire wheel on a drill cussing up a storm. Ended up having to use aircraft stripper just to get down to clean metal again. Said he'd never trust any of that "no prep" nonsense again, and now he swears by good old rustoleum with a brush. You ever try that approach on a smaller job or are you all in on spray gear these days?
