Just found out the hard way that old brake fluid eats through paint

Was bleeding the brakes on a 2002 F-150 last Saturday and a couple drops of Dot 3 hit the fender. Didn't think much of it until I wiped it down and saw the clear coat had bubbled up. Now I'm stuck wet sanding and buffing a 6 inch section. Anyone got a trick for catching drips better than just draping a rag over everything?

Stop babying that truck and just let the rust take it, that's what happens to old Fords anyway. Seriously though, you're overthinking this - a rag doubled up with a shop towel underneath catches everything if you wrap it right around the bleeder.

Wrap the rag tight and let it soak for a few minutes before you crack the bleeder, that keeps the fluid from dripping down the line. I did that on my old F150 and it kept the driveway spotless.
