My bear canister rolled down a mountain in the Sierra last month

Three weeks back, I was on a five day loop out of Bishop. I had just set up camp at about 10,000 feet and went to stash my food. I put the canister on a flat rock, turned to grab my pack, and heard a clunk. The thing tipped and just started bouncing. I watched it hop down this scree slope for what felt like a full minute, getting smaller and smaller, until it vanished into some bushes maybe 300 feet below. Had to scramble down in my camp shoes to get it, and the whole time I'm just thinking about a bear watching this giant plastic dinner bell roll right into its living room. Anyone else have their gear make a run for it like that?

That visual is pure nightmare fuel. Bet you were moving faster than you ever have in camp shoes.
