Changed my mind on those fancy acoustic panels after talking to a buddy in Nashville
I used to think expensive foam panels were the only way to deal with room echo, but a sound engineer at a dive bar in Nashville told me he uses moving blankets from Harbor Freight and they work just as good for $15 each. He showed me his setup and honestly the difference was minimal. Has anyone else tried cheap alternatives that actually worked?

Moving blankets are a solid hack and honestly it fits a bigger thing I've noticed everywhere. So many "pro" solutions are just repackaged versions of stuff that already exists for way cheaper. Like I've seen people use old comforters draped over mic stands for the same effect as those expensive isolation shields, and it's basically the same science just uglier. It's funny how often the fancy gear is just convincing you to pay for a brand name instead of a better result.

Started messing around with packing blankets from U-Haul a couple years ago and honestly never looked back. Was recording vocals in my spare bedroom and that nasty slap echo was driving me nuts. Just stapled a couple of those thick moving blankets to some old picture frames and hung them on the walls, worked way better than I expected. For like 20 bucks total I got a solid dead spot that cleaned up my recordings way more than I thought possible without spending actual money on real gear.
