That coffee shop sign that makes zero sense from the street
Walked past a new cafe on 5th Ave yesterday and their sign is some artsy font that reads like 'Brew & Grind' from 10 feet away but up close it's actually 'Brew & Bean'. Spent a solid 5 minutes crossing the street trying to figure out if I was reading a tongue twister or a menu. Has anyone else run into a sign that just fails at its one job?

The one on Elm street by the old theater uses a cursive that looks like "The Roasted Pearl" from far away but is actually "The Coastal Pearl". What worked for me was just asking the barista straight up what it said on my second visit, and they had a good laugh about it. Got a free drink out of it and now I actually remember the place since the whole thing became a running joke.

Fancy fonts are part of the experience though. A boring sign that just says "Coffee" in Times New Roman doesn't create any memory or conversation. Maybe the confusion is the point - gets people talking and looking closer instead of just walking past.
