Hot take: the laundromat on 5th in Boise has 3 different fonts on one sign
I was killing time at the Sudz laundromat on 5th in Boise on Sunday waiting on a dryer cycle, and I finally counted the fonts on their storefront sign. There are three. THREE. A script for the word Sudz, a bold serif for laundromat, and then a thin sans-serif for open 7 days. The script S and the serif S don't even sit at the same height. The whole thing looks like three different businesses glued a sign together in 1998. I grabbed a photo and sketched a one font fix on my phone right there in the folding chair. Has anyone else found a sign that's this easy to fix, or should I just let this one live as a local landmark?
Three fonts on one sign is a bold move, like they couldn't pick a lane and just gave up. Honestly the mismatched S heights would bug me more than the fonts themselves. That sign has been through at least two owners and nobody wanted to pay for a full redo, so they just slapped new letters over the old ones. My vote is let it live. A sign that ugly is basically free advertising at this point, people notice it.
