DAE think carbon paste was just fancy grease until it saved a seatpost?

I had a customer's carbon post slipping in an aluminum frame for months, even with a torque wrench. A guy at the shop in Bend said to try carbon assembly paste, and it hasn't budged in six months. What's something you thought was just marketing hype that actually works?

Disagree with the "fancy grease" take. That paste has grit in it to add grip, which is the whole point. It's not lube at all, so Fiona_murray, it's the opposite of lubing it up. For carbon on metal, you need that extra bite to stop the slip.

Wow, you were basically lubing it up!

Guess my whole life is a misunderstanding then. Last week I used cooking spray on a squeaky door hinge, so maybe I'm just in a lubing mood. Should have known better than to bring that energy to carbon paste.
